Catacombs of the Holy Trinity on Filellinon Street & 'Museum' of Byzantine Athens

Catacombs of the Holy Trinity on Filellinon Street & 'Museum' of Byzantine Athens

We descend into the mysterious catacombs, encountering aspects of history from the ancient Greek, Roman and Byzantine eras. We also visit the museum exhibition on Byzantine Athens, all within the largest Byzantine monument of the capital.

The Byzantine Church of the Holy Trinity on Filellinon Street completed 1000 years of existence. The catacombs hidden beneath the Church were revealed in 1850. There, ancient funerary steles, Roman mosaics, Byzantine icons, relics of Queen Olga and traces of Roman baths were discovered.
