Educational Programme 'The Byzantine Monuments'
We invite you to take part in the approved educational programme 'The Byzantine Monuments', which aims to highlight the wealth of Byzantine culture and to raise students' awareness of artistic, historical and cultural matters.

Structure and Duration
The programme can run once during the school year, for 1 to 3 teaching hours, within school time. The presentation is delivered free of charge by an educational collaborator of the non-profit organisation 'Friends of Byzantine Monuments', who shows relevant educational material, explains the content and discusses it with the students, answering their questions.

Participation and Procedure
Interested teachers inform the school's Teachers' Association and, once approved, send the participation request to sfbm.gr@gmail.com. Students and parents/guardians are then informed and give written consent to participate; these declarations remain at the school for data-protection reasons. For the presentation, the school needs a computer and a projection screen.

Suggested Activities, Conferences & Excursions
Participating schools can also carry out additional activities, such as educational visits to Byzantine monuments and museums or educational excursions. In a recent school year, 20 schools took part with around 2,500 students, with excellent reviews from the educational community. We also organise conferences in various parts of Greece and propose educational excursions, including to Constantinople and Italy, where students can see unique Byzantine monuments up close.

Our activities are educational and non-profit, and should under no circumstances be confused with a guided tour by a professional. Our collaborators are volunteers, and participants may, if they wish, support us financially. The sources of the photographic material on the site are credited. If any photograph is your intellectual property, please let us know so that we can credit the source or remove it.
