Plaka – Anafiotika

Plaka – Anafiotika

On the northeastern side of the Acropolis hides an entire neighbourhood of small Aegean-style houses. Its untouched architecture enchants and preserves the aura of the Aegean. The journey through history continues in Plaka, the oldest neighbourhood of Athens.

We pass through the Gate of Hadrian and the Choragic Monument of Lysicrates. We learn about Lord Byron and General Makriyiannis. We discover Byzantine churches, the Temple of Artemis, and the first University of Athens — the Kleanthes Mansion on Theorias Street.
